Jebel Al Harim
Jebel Al Harim (Mountain of Women) is the highest peak in Musandam, and a great spot for mountain camping. From the highest point of road (1600m), there is a track that leads off to a fine collection of petroglyphs carved into mountain top boulders: rudimentary but evocative weathered images chipped out of the stone, including matchstick human figures alongside animals such as gazelle, oryx, Arabian leopards and even what is thought to be a man on an elephant. Past the summit, there are sensational views of the road ahead, as it runs along a narrow ridge before descending towards the Rawdah Bowl, plus stomach-churning views into the deep gorge below. be sure to take some epic photos of your trip, and post them to our instagram page when you get back.

Fossil Rock
Fossil Rock is a short drive away from downtown Dubai, just under an hour on the E106 coming off at the exit for Khatam. A favourite among Dubai weekenders, the area around Fossil Rock in Sharjah is one of the most popular places for desert camping in UAE. Close enough to civilization so you feel comfortable (hint: food, if you run out) and deep enough in the desert to give you a sense of being out in the wild, the Fossil Rock area is ideal for first-time campers and large families. Located just off the Sharjah-Kalba road, this is one of the easier spots to reach. Once you get to the Fossil Rock site, walk around a bit to find the perfect spot. Set up camp, bring out the food and enjoy your night in the desert. Being out here in the dark is amazing, with perfect views of the stars, unsaturated by city lights.

Rocky Beach, Musandam
Rocky beach is a favourite amongst campers making the trip from Dubai this little beach is a couple hundred meters long, has pristine blue waters and an amazing rocky surround. Getting there is easy, but we would recommend a 4x4, as the road is a bit rough on the way down. once you cross the border into Oman, stay on the road marked 02 until you get to the village of Harf Ghabi. once you reach the village, take the first left off the main road and follow the road down towards the sea. on the way down, enjoy amazing views of the coast and the surrounding mountains. It can get quite busy here especially on public holidays, so we recommend heading down there as early as possible to get a good spot. once you get there, find a nice spot to pitch up and enjoy falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves.
